Cooperative Funds Scam: District Court Chitwan Sends Lamichhane to Custody

Chitwan: The District Court Chitwan has ordered the custody of former Home Minister and Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) President Rabi Lamichhane for today on charges of embezzling funds from Sahara Chitwan Multi-purpose Cooperative Limited.
Lamichhane was sent to custody as his detention hearing remained incomplete. According to Bishnu Acharya, Registrar at Chitwan District Court, the hearing to determine whether Lamichhane should be kept in detention for further investigation could not be concluded today, leading to his temporary custody under police supervision.
The detention hearing began immediately after Lamichhane's face-to-face explanation was recorded in the morning. The court has instructed the police to ensure his presence at 10:00 AM on Thursday.
Earlier, on Tuesday, the Government Attorney Office Chitwan had filed a case against 15 individuals, including Lamichhane, for their alleged involvement in the cooperative funds scam.
